The incidence of acute cholecystitis has grown over the last 10-20 years. Currently this is the most common urgent surgical intervention after acute appendicitis. Patients with acute cholecystitis tend to be older nowadays. Approximately 70%-90% of patients with acute cholecystitis are elderly or senile people. The frequency of complications has also increased. According to the currently accepted concept and the recommendations of the Russian Society of Surgeons (2013), individuals with clinical signs of acute cholecystitis must be operated within 5-6 hours if conservative treatment is ineffective. Surgical intervention in the acute period of the disease can lead to various postoperative complications due to a pronounced inflammatory process and the presence of the disease complications.
