The article examines the problem of historical memory of the Civil War in Russia. The subject of a socio-political dispute is the implementation of a project to perpetuate the memory of soldiers and officers of the Czechoslovak Corps who took part in the Civil War on the side of the anti-Bolshevik forces, which was carried out on the initiative of the Czech Ministry of Defense. It is emphasized that despite the ambiguity of assessments of the historical period of 1918-1920, the erection of monuments to the White Czech in many Russian settlements provoked a strong reaction from the domestic community, academia and political parties. It is shown that the historical memory was used by the latter as a means of manipulating public consciousness in order to increase their own electoral rating. The restrained attitude of the federal authorities to the confrontation, acting in accordance with bilateral agreements between the Czech Republic and Russia, is also noted. It appears that developing historical tourism to enable citizens of each country to honor the memory of their ancestors could level the problem.
