«Chekhov’s motives in the film «Yuryev den» by Kirill Serebrennikov»

In the article the author attempts to interpret the events in the film «Yuryev Den» by Kirill Serebrennikov through literary reminiscence. Reflexive consciousness sends the audience to Anton Chekhov's plays «Seagull», «The Cherry Orchard» and the story «Untitled». Mental reference to the Chekhov's works suggests comparison of the characters in the film with the classic patterns, created by the playwright. By way of identifying the points of convergence between them we are allowed to distinguish the Chekhov’s motives in the film.
