A browling man: dissipated behavior in the first half of the XIXth century and the literary context (Denis Davidov's lyrics and Alexander Pushkin's “The shot”)

There is the commonplace in literary criticism that Denis Davidov invented the image of hussar-and-brawler and the real rakes of 1810-1820 embodied it and the following literature continued to use this image. However, the analysis of the motive structure of Danidov’s verses shows that his lyrical hero does not have their features and contrasts with them - the extreme individualism and the desire for priority substituted there for the idea of hussar brotherhood where everyone is equal.
