Gogol's human / non-human

The article is devoted to one aspect of Gogol's picture of the world, that taken in close ties with the mythological archaic as human / non-human. The subject to review is complex cases, when a person is endowed with signs and omens of non-human, without losing the human status. The problem that Gogol solved is about does the character relevant to representation of man as the image and likeness of God, if his actions provide a basis to identify him with the non-human.
