World Cup 2018 as an effective tool of soft power

The article deals with the influence of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the Russian Federation on the image of the country abroad. The author marked advantages for international cooperation of Russia from World Cup running. The article determines that the World Cup has become an effective tool of soft power of the Russian foreign policy. The author also revealed slackness of the sanctions regime demonstrated during the preparation and holding of the World Cup.
