Numerical and experimental study of influence technological imperfections of geometric parameters of stress applying parts on the stress state and optical characteristics of Panda fiber

The experimental data of the geometry of cross sections of the party of Panda fiber were statistically analyzed. The analysis shown, that in the fiber manufacture it is not obtained to achieved a complete capability of geometry with the project design. Found the most typical forms of cross sections and deviations. The study concerned with such criteria as diameter of fiber, location of stress applying parts and fiber core relative to the center of fiber. It was found that deviation of these parameters ranges within 10%. Shown that the experimentally measured birefringence correlates to such geometrical parameters as stress rod diameter and distance between centers of rod and fiber. Was conducted a numerical experiment by finite element modeling with Ansys and were found residual stresses during the manufacturing of Panda fiber with account of the real form of fiber geometry and its constructive elements. The results are presented in graphs and analytical relationships that are consistent with the experimental data and complement them. It was found that with possible geometry deviations, the range of birefringence may vary within 30%.
