Numerical simulation of hydraulic fracturing in the Planar3D formulation

Hydraulic fracturing is one of the main measures for intensifying production and increasing the rate of oil recovery. Accurate and fast tools are required to increase the predictability of fracturing operations and prevent complications. The software package considered in this article, which includes the rapid implementation of the Planar3D hydraulic fracturing model, is proposed as such a tool. The Planar3D formulation possesses the necessary physical reliability to accurately predict the geometry of a plane fracture, and the use of a new approach to constructing a numerical scheme for implementing the Planar3D model allows achieving high computational speed. This article is devoted to the construction of a numerical scheme and a numerical algorithm for evaluating the criterion of crack propagation.
