Does modern youth read poetry? (Analysis of the content of social networks VKontakte and Facebook)

The article compares poetic preferences of the Russian-speaking and the English-speaking young people based on the analysis of the content of the social networks VKontakte and Facebook. The authors conclude that there are both perceptible differences and similarities in poetic preferences of the young people. In particular, the majority of the young people, irrespective of the language, the country of residence, prefers the poets-rebels opposing themselves to public ideology. Thus, the Russian-speaking young people choose the poets writing their verses about love and the native land, whereas the English-speaking young people choose the poets raising problems of civilization end, isolation and death. The authors assert that the poetry can be a key to the dialogue of the youngof different countries.
