The article considers the concepts - «transport», «transport accident», «catastrophe». Attention is paid to the characteristic features of man-made emergencies (accidents and disasters) and their consequences - depending on the type of vehicles. The author gives examples of statistical data on the dynamics of man-made emergencies in Russia, in comparison with other types of emergencies.
