The most common gram-negative bacteria were revealed in in-patients with chronic osteomyelitis in the conditions of specialized purulent orthopaedic department. Eight species of gram-negative microorganisms were found, among which Ps.aeruginosa and Proteus spp. were the main agents. The most effective antibiotics were determined regarding the gram-negative microorganisms - imipeneme, amikacinum, ciprofloxacine and cephalosporins of III generation. The comparative characteristic of the action of cephalosporins demonstrates decrease of the clinical effects of I-generation cephalosporins, while III-generation cephalosporins hold their high effectiveness in the department mentioned.
