Alien animals in the Volga river basin and Samara region: current state, challenges, and future research

This paper provides an overview of the current state, challenges, and future prospects for research on alien species in the Volga river basin and the Samara region. We highlight the heterogeneity in species distribution and conservation efforts across different taxonomic groups and regions. The challenges associated with maintaining black lists of invasive species in the region are also discussed.
