The study deals with the philosophical understanding of the phenomenon of digital identity as a new kind of human identity. The research proves that in the context of transition to a civilization of a new informational nature, not only the sociocultural reality but also the key properties of the human personality are transformed; in particular, the identity of a person undergoes changes. The author concludes that one of the conditions for the development of a new kind of identity, i.e. digital identity, includes the possibility of constructing it primarily by means of information technologies of communication. The study notes that the result of adaptation to a decentralized pluralistic information space implies the virtual personality as a new personality type and digital identity as a new kind of identity, reflecting the subject’s experience and awareness of itself as an integral part of a single global virtual space and a new information reality.
