Digital economy and e-commerce as factors of the spatial organization of the economy

Бесплатный доступ

The article examines the impact of the digital economy and e-commerce on the spatial organization of the economy and regional development. Based on an analysis of the evolution of conceptual frameworks and modern interpretations of e-commerce (including OECD approaches and the practice of the PRC), it is proven that the proliferation of digital business models is a powerful factor transforming traditional economicgeographical principles. A systematization of the effects of the digital economy for different types of regions (agglomerations, peripheral, depressed) is developed, and the necessity of adapting regional policy tools to new conditions is substantiated. Particular attention is paid to the asymmetry in the development of digital infrastructure and skills as a key constraint on the inclusion of regions in the digital economy.
