Economics as part of the digital economy

This article examines the approaches to the definition of the digital economy by leading domestic and foreign researchers, starting from the first mentions of it to the present. The purpose of the study is to identify a promising approach to determining the digital development of the economy in order to determine promising directions for its development in the future. With the help of such methods as analysis and synthesis, comparison, logical and systemic approaches, the author identified the four most frequently encountered in the works of domestic and foreign scientists approaches to the definition of the digital economy, considered their distribution in time by the frequency of references in the scientific electronic library elibrary. As a result, a fifth approach to defining the digital economy as a part of economic activity due to the development of digital technologies has been proposed. Also, the relevance of this particular approach has been proven based on the study of references to the digital economy in this context in the scientific and electronic library elibrary.
