Digital transformation of the tourist space: the new features

The tourism industry is a social phenomenon, and development of information technologies transforms the modern view on it. The COVID-19 pandemic played a major role in this process by the accelerating the digitalization of all spheres of society, including the service sector. The article, based on the forecasting method, identifies the digital tourism opportunities. The development of educational tourism using augmented reality technologies, virtual travel for low-income citizens and people with disabilities, the formation of a global digital library are among them. It is necessary to rise new research questions and create new theoretical "frameworks" explaining the mechanism of digital tourism practices. The digital environment is becoming an independent sphere of demand and supply formation, a base for scientific research and project implementation for consumers from different regions. Virtual opportunities facilitate the integration of various categories of consumers for planning and organizing travel on affordable terms. The study presents a mechanism for managing the tourism sector, the digital platform of the tourism sector "Tourism 4.0", as well as the online booking process.
