Digitalization of insurance: analysis, problems and directions of development

The article discusses the use of digital technologies in insurance and their impact on the insurance market. The purpose of the study is to investigate the impact of digitalization on the insurance market, identify problems and identify areas for improving insurance with the help of information technology. Within the framework of the study, data from published materials of Russian research, electronic resources on information technologies and ways to introduce digitalization in insurance, statistical data of the Bank of Russia were studied and analyzed. As a result of the study, the main components of the digital economy in insurance are identified. The analysis showed that from 2019 to 2022, the share of insurance premiums via the Internet in the total amount of insurance premiums tripled, and the number of e-insurance policies sold also increased. The study allowed us to determine that the main reasons for the insufficient penetration of digital technologies in insurance are insufficient adaptation of digital technologies to insurance programs and high risks associated with information and financial security. To further improve insurance with the help of information technology, it is necessary to expand channels and forms of communication with recipients of insurance services, introduce new insurance products for the “digital” buyer, use blockchain technologies. The practical significance of the research lies in the possibility of using the results in the educational process to substantiate the ways of development of a single insurance company.
