Digital ruble as a tool to counteract shadow and criminal economic activity in Russia

The relevance of the research topic is due, on the one hand, to the high share of the shadow economy in Russia and the ability of the digital ruble to be a highly effective tool to counter shadow and criminal economic activity, on the other. The article examines the properties of the digital ruble, allowing it to serve as a means of preventing and suppressing economic and financial offenses. One important conclusion is that the digital form of currency has the ability to reduce or even eradicate the shadow economy only if it becomes the only legal form of money, while cash and non-cash forms will be abolished. The shortcomings of bills in the State Duma of the Russian Federation in connection with the introduction of the digital ruble are analyzed, and recommendations for their elimination are formulated.
