Digital ruble: essence, intermediate results and prospects

The paper considers the domestic digital currency “digital ruble". Attention is also paid to the retail model of the digital ruble. A comparison is made between cash, a bank account, and a digital ruble. The distinguishing features of the cryptocurrency from the digital ruble are presented. The project of implementation of the digital ruble is described. The advantages and disadvantages of the digital ruble are indicated. The laws governing the use of the digital ruble are being considered. An example of the introduction of a foreign digital currency, the digital yuan, is given. In conclusion, it is concluded that the use of the digital ruble can contribute to the development of the Russian economy.
