Cytogenetic studies in who international programme on the health effects of the Chernobyl accident

The paper presents an overview of the main approaches associated with the use of cytogenetic methods in biomedical research, in particular, in WHO programs and projects to study the medical consequences of the Chernobyl accident. The contribution of the famous radiobiologist and genetics N.V. Archer in the development of the theory and practice of analysis of chromosome aberrations. The work was presented at the conference "Chromosomes and Radiation," dedicated to the memory of the famous radiobiologist and genetics, Professor N.V. Archer, January 21-22, 1997, Obninsk.
