COVID-19 and the cardiovascular system

COVID-19 often occurs in patients with various cardiovascular risk factors and cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which can affect the course of the infectious process. On the other hand, with COVID-19, additional damage to the heart and blood vessels is possible, contributing to the occurrence of cardiovascular complications and aggravation of the course of CVD.
