In the modern world, a wave of “colour revolutions” swept over the post-Soviet space, Yugoslavia, as well as a number of countries in the Middle East and North Africa, which led to a change of Government. They were accompanied by mass protests, which in most cases were bloodless. Nowadays such colour revolutions serve as an instrument for the West to overthrow undesirable regimes. As recent events have shown, the long-standing reigning ideology of eurocentrism, is gradually losing ground. Colour revolutions become the only opportunity to halt this pro-cess. They create prerequisites for foreign states to interfere in the internal affairs of countries. The whole idea of democracy is distorted by using “democratic rhetoric” during these revolutions. The unwillingness of Western civiliza-tion to recognize emerging realities of geopolitical situation is the fundamental reason for these revolutions.
