Resume: The outer nose is the central and most prominent part of the face, giving it individuality. Even small deformities can become a source of serious worries for the patient. When the deformation of the external nose is combined with a curvature of the nasal septum and a violation of nasal breathing, physical suffering associated with a violation of various physiological functions of the nose is added to emotional experiences. First of all, this concerns the respiratory function, the violation of which becomes a fertile ground for the development of purulent-inflammatory, hyperplastic processes in the nose, paranasal sinuses and pharynx. The latter, in some cases, can lead to serious disorders of the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems. Thus, the great importance of the nose in human life is obvious. This is confirmed by the fact that at the end of the 20th century, a new medical specialty - rhinology - began to form in medicine, which is due to both the large role of the nose in human life and the difficulty in studying its structures and functions.
