Activity of government and military authorities on servicemen discipline in the Russian army (XVIII - early XX centuries)

The article shows the role of military discipline in the system of military development. It reveals military and organizational activity of the Russian state on both strengthening law and order and military discipline in the pre-revolutionary period. A comprehensive study of the problem will help to objectively assess the views of military theorists and practitioners of the past on ways of discipline strengthening among officers and lower ranks. It also allows to study the forms and methods of organizational work on strengthening both law and order and military discipline and the main directions and trends of this process. This paper helps to sum up the historical experience of the activities of government and military authorities in bringing discipline in the army.
