Activities of commercial banks: current state and development opportunities in the context of a pandemic

The country's economy and the banking sector are closely interrelated: on the one hand, the stability of the banking sector plays a key role in ensuring efficient distribution of financial resources and strengthening economic growth, on the other hand, the macroeconomic environment affects the state and stability of the banking system. The relevance of the research topic is due to the importance of the banking sector for the country's economy, the system-forming importance of the industry, as well as the ongoing changes caused by the conditions of the pandemic. The dynamics of the main performance indicators of the Russian banking system in 2020 remained positive. At the same time, the pandemic dictates new working conditions for commercial banks. An increase in the number of customers covered by remote service, an increase in interest in the fast payment system-such changes were faced by banks in 2020. The article analyzes the current state of the Russian banking sector, as well as the main directions of development of commercial banks in the context of the pandemic.
