Activities of the society for the study of the Adyghe autonomous region and its role in the preservation of cultural heritage

The paper describes the activities of the Society for the Study of the Adygea Autonomous Region for the preservation of historical and cultural monuments. It analyzes the work of the Society in the study of Adygea, which was carried out jointly with the Russian Academy of Material Culture, the Committee for the Study of Languages and Ethnic Cultures of the Peoples of the North Caucasus, regional scientific and public organizations, institutes, and local history societies. The problem of preservation of historical and cultural heritage is presented as one of the most important tasks of the state. In this context, the Federal Law On Objects of Cultural Heritage (Historical and Cultural Monuments) of the Peoples of the Russian Federation, as well as legislative acts and documents of the Soviet government, were studied. The long-term plan of the Society to organize the protection of the remnants of material culture is investigated. It was revealed that the Society was involved in the collection and return of monuments, which for various reasons were outside Adygea, as well as in the development of routes for expeditions and excursions.
