The paper is focused on the struggle of People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the Karelian Finnish Soviet Socialist Republic (NKVD-NKGB of KFSSR) against the Finnish troops during the Great Patriotic war. The analysis was made on the basis of the wide range of the archival documents most of which became available only in 1990s. Special attention is paid to the issue of training intelligence and diversionary groups of IV Department of NKVD-NKGB KFSSR on the territory of Soviet Karelia occupied by the Finnish troops.
