Based on archival documents from the diplomatic service, this article reconstructs the activities of colonel P.I. Sidorov and his detachment in China from 1919 to 1922. The study covers all stages of the detachment’s existence: from its formation and military operations in Semirechye to the final collapse of the anti-Bolshevik movement in Xinjiang. The author focuses on Sidorov’s military, diplomatic, and political activities, including his interactions with consular offices of the former Russian Empire, Chinese authorities, and other representatives of the White movement. The documents demonstrate that the colonel managed to establish effective cooperation with the local population and Chinese authorities. However, despite Sidorov’s demonstrated talent as a military leader and diplomat, his detachment was unable to resist superior enemy forces.
