The activities of the Saratov Spiritual Consistory targeting sectarians and old ritualists in the Saratov governorship in the 19th century

The author of this article studies the activities of the Saratov Spiritual Consistory targeting sectarians and Old Ritualists in the Saratov Governorship in the 19th century. The author discusses the status and evolution of a special department of the Saratov Spiritual Consistory for activities targeting heretics and schismatics. Important legal documents of pre-Revolutionary Russia - the Order for Spiritual Consistories, the Order for Ecclesiastic Penances, and the Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire - as well as unpublished materials from the State Archives of the Saratov Oblast are analyzed.
