Activity of courts in the Russian empire and penitentiary departments in the pages of "Law bulletin" (the second half of the 19th and early 20th century)

The article analyzes the materials of «Law Bulletin» as a source for studying courts and prison departments in the Russian Empire in the second half of the 19th and early 20th century. It played an important role in the preparation and implementation of judicial reform in the country, posting legislation, orders of the Ministry of Justice, materials of judicial practice, and scientific articles. There were also articles criticizing certain issues of the judiciary and the correctional system. The journal as a whole reflected the political course and attitude of the autocracy to the reform of the judicial and prison departments. At the same time, there were also articles criticizing certain issues of the judiciary and the system of execution of punishments.
