Productive independent work is built at the university on the basis of the provisions of the theory of activity, which has found wide coverage in the works of domestic psychologists and teachers. The analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature made it possible to reveal the features of independent work, which has an activity character, to consider its structural components. The result of independent work from the standpoint of the activity approach is the formation of skills to creatively master the methods and techniques of independent activity, to acquire self-education skills. Their actualization is determined by the transition from educational activity to professional activity, in which self-educational activity occupies a large share.
