The effect of physical mutagen on quantitative traits of soybean

The results of research on artificial mutagenesis of soybean using X-ray irradiation in a dose of 628 Gy are presented. The irradiation of soaked seeds before and after the beginning of growth of embryonic roots leads to formation of mutant forms with improved productivity characteristics. The X-ray irradiation of soaked and irradiated seeds before the beginning of growth of embryonic roots was the most effective way of breeding mutant forms with improved quantitative traits of productivity. It was determined that various soybean varieties react differently to the induced mutagenesis. The obtained mutant forms represent a valuable material for further use in soybean breeding.
