The results have been presented of morphological investigations on spine lumbar part intervertebral discs treated by contact effect of semiconductor laser radiation with 970 nm wavelength at different power and exposition. The material used were the L2-L5 intervertebral discs level taken both during dissection of patients and after exposed (open) discectomy. The zone of disc tissue under laser destruction was shown to become localized within 5 mm. Optimum laser effect was reached under 3 Vat power radiation at intermittent radiation supply into disc. The introduction of physiological solutions into the laser activity zone resulted in reduction of the coagulation and necrosis depth. Neither capillary accretion nor elements of coarse fibrous tissues have been observed after the laser treatment. Semiconductor laser used for puncture operations on spine osteochondrosis ensures disc tissues safety and without any danger for surrounding anatomic structures.
