The article deals with questions of form building in the baroque dance music. The author shows the significance of correlations with related art spheres, among which the connection of the baroque dance with the poetry and rhetoric is emphasized. The role of the word as an interpreter of the meaning of the baroque dance of the Louis XIV epoch is particularly accentuated. The paper traces the similarities and differences between the elements of dance, poetic, musical syntaxes, identifies the ways of their correlation in the composition of the French stage dances with singing (danses chantées). Studying the case of the Jig from the tragedy to the music of J.-B. Lully “Amadis of Gaul", the author considers analogies between compositions of danses chantées and the disposition of oratorical speech, which are justified in the context of the “rhetorical era" traditions.
