The author reviews the business activity of the Russian enterpreneurs Abrikosovs and Popovs during the capitalistic modernization of the country in the second half of the XIXth - early XXth century. Its novelty is determined by a comprehensive approach to the study of entrepreneurial activities of the business class. Their background and business success, attitudes towards wealth, education, philanthropy, and motivation in implementing business are considered herein. The multifaceted activities of the Russian businessmen are shown on the examples of their activity in Moscow, where the organic Russian bourgeoisie which grew out of the merchant class and small commodity production were present, in China (Hankou), where the new trade opportunities emerged in the middle of 19th century, in the Taurida Governorate (Simferopol and Sevastopol), where the businessmen revealed their business acumen and market forecasting, and in London due to the need in solving their business financial problems. The author singles out the examples of the new business organization implementation, new markets conquest and new products promotion, the conclusions are drawn.
