Demographic and territorial structure of the Tobolsk population

The paper describes the current demographic situation in the city of Tobolsk, situated on the territory of Tyumen region. Indicators of the demographic and territorial structure of the population are among the most important indices to characterize the achieved level of socio-economic development and potential labour resources for the further development of the city. Territorial distribution of the population within the emerging Metropolitan area of Tobolsk were analyzed. The territorial approach is essential not only for understanding the condition and formation of modern cities but also for a substantiation of the forecast of their development. The characteristic of demographic indicators is given in dynamics. Positive dynamics of population indicates that Tobolsk is one of the most attractive municipalities for permanent residence of the population not only in Tyumen region but in the Russian Federation. The demographic situation in the city is characterized by maintaining the dynamics of population growth, due to the young average age of the population, and also the realization of complex of measures on stimulation of birth rate and improve the health status of the population. To evaluate the demographic potential of the population in Tobolsk comparative analysis with other urban districts and municipal districts of the South of the Tyumen region. This paper proposes the use of the methodology matrix the Boston Consulting Group to analyze demographic processes. The advantages of this method lie in the fact that such a matrix is an intuitive tool for most managers and economists. The article has practical value for the geographical assessment of any city or region in solving the current demographic problems of Russia and the assessment of the prospects for socio-economic development of its regions.
