The article is devoted to the analysis of the main indicators of the demographic development of the Kaliningrad region. in the post-Soviet period. Over the past quarter century, the region has been characterized by a natural decline in population and a steady migration increase. Natural decline was formed as a result of lower fertility rates and higher mortality rates. Decline in the birth rate occurred against the background of a decrease in the number of women of reproductive age, an increase in the age of marriage and an increase in the divorce rate of the population. Age-specific fertility rates have also changed. In parallel, the process of increasing mortality was observed, which is connected both with the complex of socio-economic problems in society and with the process of aging of the population.
