Demographic, social and economic aspects of the retirement age in Russia

The article considers demographic, social and economic preconditions of the raise of retirement age in Russia. The author analyses the arguments of supporters and opponents of the retirement age reform. Basing upon the existing statistical data and the results of sociological surveys it is concluded that such transformations of the Russian retirement system are kind of premature.
