Demographic transition - specific character of the Russian model

The article deals with the issues relating to application of the demographic transition theory to specifics of the development of the demographic situation in Russia. Prognostication by means of analytical adjustment and construction of econometric models allowed us to superimpose the calculated data on the available theoretical indicators of demographic transition and ROSSTAT projections. This made it possible to suppose that Russia is now at the third phase, which, provided positive dynamics of the natural population increase, will quite quickly come to an end and give place to the fourth one. Understanding the dynamics and possibility of modeling this process are quite topical.
