Tension vibrations damping in continuous electromechanical systems with loop accumulators

The article considers continuous strip processing lines used in metallurgy, by an example of a continuous pickling unit (CPU) of a metallurgical plant rolling shop. The main established principles of selecting and constructing the structure of the main controllers in the speed and tension automatic control systems (ACS) of the of tension stations (TS) and loop accumulators are analyzed. In electric drives with indirect tension control, the speed controller (SC) is usually in saturation, the level of which is determined by the torque setting, so it does not respond to speed changes and does not have a stabilizing effect on strip tension fluctuations arising due to elastic connections in a multi-mass system. To damp oscillations, an additional proportional controller is introduced in the ACS of accumulators, based on the deviation of the actual drive speed from the reference. The efficiency of changing the standard controllers structure and using additional correction signals is confirmed experimentally on an operating unit.
