The Day Democracy Became «Harmful»: the «Negative Evolution» of Priorities of the Guild of the Russian Lawyers

The article examines some aspects of the transformation of the Guild of Russian Lawyers from an independent public association to a structure de facto loyal to the Federal Chamber of Advocates and the state agenda. Based on the personal experience of the author and the analysis of public statements by the Gasan Mirzoev, internal conflicts caused by a deviation from human rights and democratic principles are revealed. The conclusion is drawn about a politically motivated reorientation of the Guild of the Russian Lawyers, which indicates a general crisis of independence of law institutions in modern Russia.
