Depressive and anxiety disorders in arterial hypertension (literature review)

High prevalence of depressive and anxiety disorders in arterial hypertension has caused recently great interest in study of this problem. In this review we have presented data of foreign investigators from 1980 to 2009. Various sources give descriptions of prevalence, show peculiarities of symptoms, course and complications of hypertension in depressive and anxious patients. For explanation of these interrelationships various factors have been considered (like autonomous dysfunction of nervous system and genetic influences). In addition, psychogenic, social-demographic factors and experienced psychotraumatizing situations as predisposing and immediately provoking the disease are considered.
