The town of Terki was founded at the end of the 16th century in the lower reaches of the Terek River, not far from the Caspian Sea. Most of the inhabitants of this town were military men, among whom were "deti boyarskie". Their numbers were small, but they played an important role the political events of the late sixteenth to the first half of the seventeenth century. In the article "deti boyarskie" of the city of Terki are investigated in comparison with a similar group of the population of other cities. The study reveals several features in the property status and service of "deti boyarskie" in the city of Terki. One of them is that they did not have estates. Other features are the important role of this group not only in military actions, but also in strengthening Tsarist power over the peoples of the North Caucasus and in relations with neighboring states.
