Dissociation is commonly conceptualized as a psychological defense mechanism that develops as a reaction to overwhelming traumatic experiences, especially childhood trauma. The article presents the results of our own research on the interrelation between early traumatic experiences and dissociation in alcohol-addicted adolescence. The results of the research prove the interdependence of dissociation process and early traumatic experiences.
