Diagnostics of value orientations of pharmacy students in the process of professional ethics formation

Orientation of educational policy of recent years on preparation of “professional socially responsible personality, brought up on the basis of spiritual and moral values”, historical and national- cultural traditions of the peoples of the Russia during the period of transformation of professional education causes the growth of researchers’ interest in studying the values of young people in socially oriented professions – medicine and pharmacy. Studying value orientations of students of pharmaceutical educational institutions is especially relevant. The specifi city of pharmaceutical business makes it necessary to strengthen axiological approach in educational practices and formation of professional ethical culture of future specialists in view of negative tendencies in the quality of pharmacy service, reduced patient confidence in the pharmacist’s consultation, negative assessment of the pharmacist’s personality. The article presents the results of empirical research, aimed atidentifi cation of the value system of pharmacists- students. Their basic value orientations, terminal and instrumental value categories are investigated using a survey methodology. The respondents were 120 students of the first and final years of study at the pharmaceutical technical school of St. Petersburg State Pharmaceutical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, majoring in pharmacy.
