In sick children, SDH, LDH, G-6-PDH and α-GPDH were studied. Changes in enzyme activity were determined depending on the severity of VHB. There is a persistent and profound decrease in dehydrogenase activity in 6 patients (6.8%) with fulminant VHB. A sharp shift in energy metabolism was revealed, which led to the accumulation of lactate and metabolic acidosis. Due to disruption of the aerobic carbohydrate pathway (SDH), α-glycerophosphate (α GPDH) and pentose phosphate (G-6-PDH) shunts and glycolysis (LDH) activation are affected. A persistent decrease in the activity of dehydrogenases is a prognostically unfavorable indicator in the course of VHB.
