Diagnosis of osteoarthritis as a complication of syndrome of pain dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint using spiral computed tomography

The aim of the study was to investigate morphological changes in the tissues of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the width of the joint cavity x-ray in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) after suffering from pain dysfunction syndrome using spiral computed tomography (SCT). The analysis of computer tomograms of 20 patients with TMJ OA according to our proposed method was carried out. The analysis of the data revealed a relationship between the severity of clinical manifestations of osteoarthritis and narrowing of the joint gap in the upper and posterior parts, and the emergence of morphological changes in the elements of the joint.
