Diagnostics of designer psychological qualities as part of his professional competence

The purpose of the reorganization of the system of higher professional education is to increase the competitiveness of domestic products. The economy requires a considerable amount of specialists able to create competitive domestic products by introducing innovations, new technologies, with the aim of improving the welfare of the country and increasing the standard of living. Therefore, the diagnosis of formation of the psychological foundations of personality and psychological structure (values, professional ambitions, motives, knowledge, skills, abilities) of students will identify the ways and means to achieve the efficiency of formation of professional competence. The methods of mathematical statistics: frequency analysis, Spearman correlation analysis were used as the diagnostic tools to identify the qualitative and quantitative level of the investigated personality traits, attitudes and ways of formation of professional competence. As a result of the diagnosis of the peculiarities of the individual psychological structure of students, the correlation between the level of motivation and value orientations of the designer were defined. The identified types of motivation, needs, and interests allowed to adjust the trajectory of the experimental work to the formation of professional competence of a designer. The author's tools to diagnose efficiently cognitive, subject-practical, personal experience of the designer that orients the student to self-development, self-organization, and personal growth are presented. The results are justified and proved by the evidence base confirming the validity of the diagnostic tools chosen. The results can be used in the practical activity of educators.
