Diakhronic changes in the composition of an english scientific article

The article provides a diachronic analysis of the structure of English scientific articles. The compositional features of the articles of two historical periods (1935 and 2005) are defined. It is shown how the way of presenting scientific material has changed, reflecting the development of scientific communication and the standardization of scientific discourse. Special attention is paid to the identification of key sections and their functional role in the formation of a scientific text.
