The death of newborn calves from diseases of the alimentary organs in the regions of the country remains on high level, so the problem of research of the digestive apparatus remains actual, both in embryogenesis and in neonatal ontogeny. Histogenesis of the nonstriated muscular tissue of the wall of the large intestine in fetal and neonatal stages of development depends on the following: the caudal-cranial gradient of the large intestine (as organ); mesenteric-distal gradient of the structures and tissues of the intestinal wall, anisochronous and heterochronous development of cellular programmed differentiation of smooth muscle tissue, depending on their localization; specific dynamics of change of the nucleus area and the area of the entire cell, cytoplasmic- nuclear relations, mitotic index and apoptosis index.
